  • Can Chelsea stop the unstoppable Manchester City?

The reigning champions rumbled on in mid-week when they dispatched Watford 1-2 away at Vicarage Road. The Citizens maintained a fabulous record as they now have 13 wins and 2 draws in 15 Premier League matches so far. They are still only two points adrift of Liverpool in second place, though, and might lose the top spot after this weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s machinery is about to travel to the capital for the Chelsea clash at Stamford Bridge. It will be a true test for the pace-setters who still come into the game as favourites.

The Spanish manager has a tremendous depth in his ranks. He thus rested the top scorer Raheem Sterling and slightly injured Sergio Aguero at Vicarage Road, while changing the entire back four in the defensive line. The Spaniard will likely return Sterling to the starting line-up for the Chelsea clash.

Manchester City will head into this off the back of three subsequent victories over the Blues.

The Citizens did not concede a single goal in the process.

The two teams met each other in the Community Shield match before the start of the season when Man City took a 0-2 victory at Wembley.

Maurizio Sarri rested some key players in midweek and Chelsea paid a heavy price, losing 2-1 away to strugglers Wolves.

The likes of David Luiz, Jorginho, Olivier Giroud and Pedro will almost certainly return to the starting XI when Chelsea host Manchester City on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne are both ruled out for Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

The match against the defending champions comes at the worst possible moment for the Blues. They did well at the very start of the season, but their form has seen a massive slide in recent weeks. The latest of failures came on Wednesday night when Maurizio Sarri’s men fell 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers away at Molineux.

The hosts won just one of last four Premier League affairs. They were completely outplayed by Tottenham Hotspur after the international break. A 2-0 win over Fulham did not bring significant improvements in their game, while the mentioned defeat to Wolves only confirmed their struggles.

City won seven on the spin in the league and they are heavy favourites to keep such form going here in our opinion.
