  • Juventus vs Roma – Can Giallorossi end Juve's unbeaten Serie A streak?

Juventus host Roma in the derby of the matchday on Saturday evening at Allianz Stadium. Teams will head into it in completely opposite moods as defending champions are enjoying a much more comfortable campaign this term

Bianconeri do not actually have a true opposition in their domestic league. They eased to a record of 15 wins and 1 draw in 16 league affairs this season. It is enough for an eight-point cushion at the top of the table coming into this 17th round fixture with the Romans.

The story is completely opposite with Giallorossi who are outside of top six in the league table at the moment. Eusebio Di Francesco has had plenty of issues with sidelined players throughout the entire season.

Talismanic striker Edin Dzeko skipped last five matches through muscular injury. Nonetheless, he is reported to be fit to make the return here against Juventus and it will be interesting to see if Di Francesco will use him from the first minute at Allianz Stadium.

Juve have a positive head to head record against Roma (25W, 16D and 13L).

Juventus are 8 points ahead of Napoli who are 2nd on the league table.

Nonetheless, Bianconeri won just one of past four H2H games with Giallorossi in 90 minutes.

Juve took four points from two games against the Romans in the previous term of Serie A (1-0 and 0-0). Rodrigo Bentancur is available again after serving a suspension and will surely start against Roma.

João Cancelo has a knee problem that will keep him out until after the winter break. Mattia De Sciglio will play instead.

Edin Dzeko will start for Roma after overcoming injury in time, but the away side will be without Stephan El Shaarawy, Daniele De Rossi and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Apart from Dzeko’s concern, Roma have plenty of problems with their defensive line. The team conceded two or more goals in all of past five matches in all competitions. The streak includes a 3-2 victory over Genoa from last Sunday.

It will be the music to the ears of Cristiano Ronaldo who needs four goals in remaining three games of the year to set the new record with eight consecutive years with 50 or more goals scored.
