With these teams meeting on Friday in the final of this tri-series, the meeting on Monday at the Village Oval in Dublin between the West Indies and Bangladesh will merely serve as the entrée.

It has been almost five years and 79 ODI matches since the West Indies last enjoyed a series victory with the white ball, but snapping that streak is a real possibility in a few day’s time in what would be a perfect confidence boost for next month’s World Cup.

And what better way to prepare for the series finale than the players riding high on the back of the team’s highest ever successful ODI run chase (331/5) just two days ago, producing that victory with 13 balls to spare.

Sunil Ambris’ century as opener against Ireland and John Campbell’s 179-run effort last week were both huge pluses for the Windies. Yet it does give their selectors some headaches with Shai Hope and Chris Gayle also in the mix, and means it should be interesting to see the opening line up come match one of the World Cup.

With one win (an eight-wicket victory over the Windies) and a washed out result from their two matches played this series, Bangladesh enter the contest brimming with confidence. Not only did every bowler snare a wicket when these two teams played last week, but the four batsmen who walked into the middle all made solid scores.

With Bangladesh having won five of the last seven H2H contests, owning a 10-3 record from their last 13 matches played in the northern hemisphere, plus holding an undefeated record at the Village Oval, the signs all indicate another positive showing from the Tigers.
