World Cup 2019: Qualification scenarios for all teams

After two back to back defeats, England have done themselves a huge favour by defeating India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 round-robin match at Edgbaston. The win puts England back in contention for semi-finals. To stay alive in the CWC 2019, England faced a must-win situation against India. Now the hosts will need to beat New Zealand in their last game to go through to the semi-finals.

In case, England lose, New Zealand will qualify for semis and it will also open gates for Pakistan. Bangladesh is also in the scene and they need to win two out of two matches to give themselves a chance.

Had England lost to India, it would have been curtains on the semis chances. The England’s win means Sri Lanka, who are placed seventh on the ICC CWC 2019 points table, can no longer qualify for the last four. So, now technically, five teams- India, Pakistan, New Zealand, England, and Bangladesh- are in contention for three available spots.
